Never Let Me Go (Mark Romanek, 2010)

Kill if you can but I love Never Let Me Go (2010). After knowing it received mixed reviews both from Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic, I was never swayed to change camps. I love the film mostly because it uses depth to alienate a characters (see pictures above) and it uses cuts to box two different sets (see pictures below). With this fairly simple aesthetics, it narrates a lonely story of a group of friends in their failure to survive life itself. It is almost a contemplative stark, quiet similar to many movies by French directors and Asian directors i.e. with Edward Yang and Hou Hsiao-Hsien in their use of depth cues. This film deserves a re-evaluation.
